“Since travelers are often confronted with disruptions while on the move, I offer problem solutions that provide special know-how and thus a certain level of security.”
A life reminiscent of Indiana Jones
Anton Lennartz is probably the most important active survival expert in Germany. Tony Lennartz combines theoretical and practical knowledge in a way that makes it easy and gripping for laypeople to understand. Whoever talks to him about his life, involuntarily peeks at fedora - hat, leather jacket and bullwhip.
Because Anton “Tony” Lennartz led an envy-inducing life that is reminiscent of that of the movie hero Indiana Jones.
Originally a policeman, the native Rhinelander was interested in life in the regions that used to be called “the wilderness” even as a young guy. Extensive experience with trappers and Canadian First Nations followed, as well as spectacular expeditions.
A workshop to participate in
In his workshop “Survival from your handbag” he shows how everyday items and equipment can be repurposed or reinvented in order to adapt them to new requirements in precarious situations.
He shows how to make a hobo stove out of a beer can and how to make the perfect fishing hook out of a bird bone. He proves that adventurers without equipment, with a few sticks, can build a winch and pulleys and use it to tow a vehicle with ease, at least in an emergency.
How to use a rope to cross water without touching water. How to ensure your own safety on unfamiliar paths is also conveyed in an entertaining way.
No adventure without risk
Our world is getting "smaller" but not finer. The tourism industry opens up distant and remote areas. Travel bookings are made with ease from the home computer. The ease of booking suggests “easy going” to people and they become careless.
Since there are usually high expectations regarding the trip, advertising texts are elevated to imaginary realities. Disturbances or dangers are never mentioned in it and thus banished from one's own thinking. What's going to happen? At least you have good insurance. Any conflicts can be settled legally and technical problems are delegated to the breakdown service.
This supposed potentiation of one's own security can very quickly end in chaos. "The weather suddenly changed." "The navigation system didn't work anymore." "Our luggage was stolen!" ... This list can be extended many times over and unfortunately it is precisely these sentences that often lead to stories that lead to an unpleasant finale to lead.
